My blog has not been updated these days because I am planning to create a video share site.

In my plan, this site might not be a hosting of Video, and may be just a collection of popular videos links from other sites, such as youtube, Google Video, and some other video hosting sites. I am interested in some alive TV shows (such as Lost, Desperate Housewife, etc), Movies, and classic Cartoons (such as South Park, Simpson etc). I wanna find them online, then put  links in my site, and vistors can watch them in my site with my own player.  I’d rather call this site a video collection site. Sure, I’ll add a feature which allows vistors to submit their own collections.

I got this idea from a nice Indian guy, and I am working with him for a project.  Also, my bad experience to use youtube or other similar video sites gives me the impulse to create a video site. Sometimes I wanna find a whole collection of some shows or cartoons in those sites,  I mean, when I find a source, I wish I can find a full collection, not part of them. Some fiends may upload only several episodes of the shows, and it is not easy to find a full collection by one search. Even when you’ve got a list of that shows, most of them are repeated and sorted unorderly. After you finished one episode, you need to find the next in the long list  by yourself, and sometimes you can’t find all the episodes. So, I wanna do this job for my vistors. I am also a fans of TV shows, Cartoons, and Movies,  and I often try to  find the full collections of a show online. Now I just need to do a  little more work, that is, put the links to my video site to share with others. I’ll be happy if what I have done bring others convinience. Also, it may let me make more friends who are intersted in the same shows as me.

I am trying to find a good Video CMS, but not easy to get one. There are some youtube clones while almost all of them are not free. Finally, I find a open source video CMS–PHP Director. PHP Director is still in its initial stage, and now it has the basic feature of youtube. I installed it and had a try yesterday. It’s a very simple CMS right now, but  at least it provides a basic frame of a video site.

I am not familliar with PHP, so at present I still can’t make more modifications on the basic frame. Some usres of PHP Director added their own template and some new features, and their sites really look awesome. Unfortunately, most of them have not provided their codes. One nice guy provides his template, and I downloaded it, but failed to use it. maybe it need some modifications to use it in my site.

One guy created his own video site based on the wordpress  template, and it’s a awesome site. But I don’t know how to add a wordpress template to PHP Director. Now,  free Video CMS is not easy to find, so I think I must learn PHP by myself. At least, I’ve got a basic frame of PHP Director, and what I need to do next is just to develop some new features by myself.
