I can’t visit hostgator.com since yesterday. Actually, I am not sure about when it was unavailable in China because I have not visited it for couple of days. Now, I have not troubles in using my host, so I usually login my cpanel directly.

Yesterday, when I wanna have a check about my promotion status, I found it was not accessible. After that, I have tried several times since yesterday, all failed. I don’t know the exact reason. Been tired of the unstability and limitations of free web host and BSP, finally I decieded to buy a web host.

It’s the first time for me to buy a web host, and have not any experience. So I searched online to find some reviews on web host service. Wordpress.org recommands several hosts, but they are all not suitable to me because I wanna pay the bill through paypal and wanna pay per month. At last, I found hostgator.com.

To be frank, During the first three days, I have had some complaints on hostgator because of the complicated verification of my account. I don’t know why I was chosen to be verified while most of other cunstomers have a smooth registration.  I think that the main reason may be that I am from China and some former Chinese customers might have broken the rules of hostgator, so I was just unlucky to be checked.  Continue Reading »

This is the first time for me to create a blog with wordpress in hostgator.com. I installed wordpress yesterday, and downloaded some themes from wordpress.org.

I chose a theme called prosense. I like this theme, but I wanna make some modifications on it. It’s not easy for me to do that because I used to modify themes writen in html while it’s the first time for me to read php files. I am still not familliar with php.

I have tried to adjust the postion of ads, and add some elements of sidebar, but it seems my modifications did not work. I still have not got the key point of php.  maybe it still  needs more days for me to get familliar with it. I’ll search some tips online to learn how to modify the themes.

After the intial frustating days to settle in hostgator.com, things are going well now. I am satisfied with the features of hostgator which makes the installation of wordpress easily. Also, the speed is okay which is better than the free web host. It does deserve the money I paid. Continue Reading »

In China Blogger.com has been faraway from us for a long time, maybe couple of months. I am almost losing my patience  on it.  What’s going on!

One weird thing is that I can login blogger.com to mangage my blog while my blog is not available to be viewed by others, and  maybe only visitors in China can’t visit my blog.

Why is it so hard to create a blog in BSPs outside of China, and what I want is just to own an English blog to exchange some ideas with my foreign friends. Just a so tiny dream, can’t even be fullfilled.  Continue Reading »
